Dean Champ sent us this sweet take on C-3PO (and for anyone wondering what the honeycomb is, it's from a Violet Crumble candy bar!). Computer wire and sequins sold separately...

Darth Vader Lightpin
Jake Corcoran used black paper, a pin, and a lamp to generate this remix. We're guessing Jake did a lot of LiteBriting as a kid.

Salt Yoda
Bashir Sultani is known for his artistic passion about exploring what can be done with salt. His most recent Star Wars salt creation is a lovely remix featuring Jedi Master Yoda, and if you think the finished product is amazing, be sure to check out the video of him making this!

David Crosby saw a remix opportunity while strolling through IKEA after realizing that these $5 generic maquettes would be much cooler as part of the Star Wars universe - to which we reply, "make ours maquettes!"

Facebook are Smart
We got a chuckle yesterday after updating our Facebook page with our latest remix, "Boba Duck."
Immediately after posting the update, Facebook served up possibly the most understated ad we've ever been shown, to which our reply was, "Um...YES!"

We think today's remix by Michelle G.'s is just ducky (and will probably make bath time with the kids a lot more fun)!

(EU) Vader Mask
(this is a SWR "Expanded Universe" remix)
We're thrilled to announce Freehand Profit's latest remix, featuring a pair of Adidas "Darth Vader" Superstar IIs! This is the 12th mask in The Branding Wars series, most of which are gas masks reconstructed from a single pair of sneakers.
This remix was made especially for Star Wars Remix, and, once again, you can own this exclusive item!
For more information, please check out this post at The Hip Hop Nerd.

That's No Moon!
Nathan Barry submitted a tasty remix of the Death Star floating in a sea of stars (the starfield was created by punching holes in black paper and lighting it from behind). Any guesses as to what this "moon" is made of (there are two clues in the previous sentence, by the way)?

A Tremor in the Force
The SWR team has been nothing short of amazed at the coverage, support, and enthusiasm for our little project. Thanks to the amazing creativity of the Star Wars community, the impressive remixes we've published here have garnered mentions at sites like Boing Boing, Wired's GeekDad, Bit Rebels, NOTCOT, G4TV, DudeCraft, MTV, even Playboy.
The most recent mention, however, truly humbled us.
Yesterday, the talented Bonnie "Grrl" Burton (no stranger to crafting or Star Wars) mentioned two of our remixes at The Official Star Wars Blog: Charlton Yu's "Jawa Burgers" and "Chewburger."
We're still geeking out about it, as you might guess.
So thank you, Bonnie, and thanks to everyone else who linked, posted, tweeted, commented about Star Wars Remix - and most of all for sharing your remixes!

Hollywood (Death) Star
Rebecca Bloom really remixed the Walk of Fame in our latest remix, "Hollywood (Death) Star." We have no idea whose star is under the cardboard, and Rebecca isn't talking - though, to be honest, we kind of like the air of mystique!

Death Star Ice Cream
Paige Smith served up a cool remix for today, along with the story behind it:
"I was eating some ice cream one day during the summer when I was feeling particularly bad after having completely bombed a Calculus 2 test. I tend to eat from around the sides first and and then start on the middle. I happened to look down and saw a half-sphere with an indention in the the top.. I added a few lines and this was the result. It made the rest of my day."
Getting this remix sure made our day - thanks, Paige!

Look, sir, droids!
Scott Walker remixed his children's sandbox, some cardboard, and a bit of gray paint into the desert planet Tatooine. One of his kids' small shovels served to produce R2D2's tracks, while a few steps in Scott's flip-flops created C-3PO's footprints.

Abby Davis (crafter, artist, and Skull-a-Day co-editor) wove the following Death Star remix using chalk and scrap fabric from making the quilts (inspired, perhaps, by her recent "Woven Skull").

All Day I Dream About Stormtroopers
Freehand Profit completely remixed some Adidas sneakers exclusively for SWR, and the result is a kicking new Stormtrooper style of head gear. This piece belongs to a body of work called "The Branding Wars," and it was made specially for Star Wars Remix.
And yes, you can actually wear it! In fact, you can own it, as it's being sold on eBay - for more information, please check out this post at The Hip Hop Nerd.

Thank You!
Our first week of remixes is coming to an end, and all we can say is THANK YOU!
We have been impressed not only with the reactions of everyone to SWR, but we're also getting some amazing submissions. We're thrilled you're as excited about SWR as we are, and we're looking forward to bringing you more remixes soon.
Our original plan was to post two new images a week, but we went a bit overboard this week after all the requests for more remixes. Starting next week, we'll post new remixes each Tuesday and Thursday (and maybe some extra goodness in between if the Force aligns with us).
In the mean time, thanks for jumping on board and answering the call to remix your world!

Jabba the Meat Puppet
Scott Williams put his life freedom Kroger's Value Card Membership on the line to secure these remixes of the universe's most notorious Hutt Gangster.
In his own words:
In his own words:
I walked into Kroger armed with my Jabba the Hutt meat puppet, and suspicion was immediately aroused. Maybe they sensed somehow that he was constructed from a competitor's meat, but whatever it was, it was confirmed as soon as I pulled out my camera and began to take shots of Jabba in the meat section.
"Call to the Meat Department" paged overhead. Time to go.
I headed towards the door, cooly, at first.
"CALL TO THE MEAT DEPARTMENT. SCAN AND RECORD." It was beginning to get serious!
I picked up my pace. Almost there! I looked behind me and saw two aproned Kroger cronies hot on my tail. They're gaining on us! Jabba's got to go.
I didn't want it to look like I was in the process of shoplifting a sci-fi-villain shaped package of meat so I plopped him into a nearby trashcan that sat next to the vegetable display. There was no way I was going to take the fall for an extortionist space slug - I didn't care how high the bounty would be.
The automatic doors did their thing, and I made it to my escape pod, home free.
